About
Ruth Hydes studied Graphic Design and illustration at Birmingham and Staffordshire University many moons ago, she has won awards for her illustration and featured in exhibitions at The London Transport Museum for her Poster designs. Her list of clients is hugely impressive in advertising, editorial and publishing from Transport for London to John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and Aller Press Denmark.
Inspiration
It all began in 1952, in a smoggy and smokey Manchester, a city full of wonderful architecture, industrial landscapes, museums, galleries and the occasional green patch. It was here the seeds of her inspiration were sown, they didn’t grow plants but paintings, prints and a palette of vibrant colours.
Mostly drawing from life, she developed the paintings in her studio in the loft with views of passing cloudscapes and Jackdaws on the chimney.
